On Week 4- Struggling

6 years ago 0 11219 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi Michael1987,

I am sorry to hear you are slipping father. I can see how that would be very discouraging. Using alcohol as a coping tool is very common for people with depression. Unfortunately, it only provides relief for a few moments and then makes the depression worse. As alcohol is a depressant, the more you drink, the more difficult it becomes to manage the depression. Put some thought into alternative coping mechanisms. Is there any other activities that boost your mood or help you to feel better? Do you feel you may be dependant on alcohol? If so, do you think focusing treatment on this might be a step forward? Have you talked to your doctor about how you are feeling and self medicating?

Hi Everyone,

I am currently on week 4. I must admit when I started this I really felt that it was going to make a difference but I just feel that I am slipping even farther. I wake up most mornings afraid to face the day. I use alcohol to sleep. I have for years and I know I shouldn't. However, it really is hard to let go as it helps me relax. I feel that I am doing as much as I can but I keep missing work.

Any thoughts would be helpful,

M
